Chapter 1342

Peterson shook his head. “I could only make out his build. Also, that person was wearing a mask.”
He nervously fiddled with his fingers before continuing, “When I was about to alert you all, the gunfire broke out, and everyone started panicking. After the commotion died down, you were preoccupied, so I couldn’t get a chance to talk to you until now.”
Hannah gave him a grave look. “Do you realize you could be in danger for telling me this?”
Peterson nodded. “Yes, but I figured you’re the only person I can trust with this information. Also, you’ve helped me twice, Miss Moore. I wanted to return the favor.”
Seeing Peterson was telling the truth, Hannah reassured him, “Don’t be scared. I won’t tell anyone else about what you saw. Did you get a good look at the mask the suspect was wearing?”
Peterson shook his head again. “He was rushing into the room, so it was hard to see clearly. But that person has the same build as me.”
That information wasn’t enough to identify the suspect. Still, Hannah said, “Thank you for telling me. This might help with the investigation later on.”
Peterson lowered his head. “I’m sorry if what I saw can’t be of much help, Miss Moore. I just thought you should know.”

Offering a reassuring smile, Hannah said, “Don’t worry about it. It’s enough that you mustered up the courage to tell someone you trust about what you saw because you thought it was the right thing to do. I hope you don’t feel guilty for only speaking up now. There was nothing you could do to stop the assailant that night without endangering your life, so it was a good call to keep the information until you felt safe to share it. Besides, no one got hurt from the Delgado family in the incident.”
Peterson’s face lit up with gratitude, and he stopped drooping his shoulders as if a weight had been lifted from it. “Thank you, Miss Moore. I… It’s the first time someone has said such words to me.”
Looking into Peterson’s eyes, which reminded her of Bryson, Hannah opened her mouth to ask something but decided against it at the last minute.
Instead, she said, “You should go back and rest.”

Hannah returned to her room shortly after that. After a quick shower, she lay on the bed, ready to sleep.
Just then, a knock came on the door. She was too sleepy and exhausted from the race to respond, so she ignored it. However, the knocking persisted.
“Who is it?” With a grunt, Hannah climbed out of the bed to get the door.
When she opened it, she was welcomed by Ella’s annoyed face. Sighing, Hannah asked, “What do you want, Ella?”
Looking her up and down, Ella snorted, “You’re really lucky. Ronald got hurt from the crash while you’re unscathed.”
Rolling her eyes inwardly, Hannah said, “If you have nothing else to say, please leave.”
She was about to shut the door at Ella’s face when the latter stopped it with her hand.
“I’m not done talking!” Ella scowled at her.
Letting out another sigh, Hannah stretched her patience and asked, “What else are you going to say?”
With a raised eyebrow, Ella taunted, “Stop acting so nonchalant and high. Even though you’re a Compton, you’re still new in this circle, so you should know your place. In terms of status and background, you’re nothing compared to me. Don’t even dream about marrying Remington because he would never choose someone Like you. I came here to tell that to your face.”
Sneering, Hannah leaned against the door frame with her arms crossed.
“Oh, dear. You didn’t need to go out of your way to scare me off because I’m not interested in Remington.”
